We are seeking an AODA Counselor to:


• Deliver clinical diagnostic services in the area of alcohol and other drug abuse to adult patients and their families across the spectrum of UW Health settings
• Practice patient/family assessment and management, resource management, care facilitation, and discharge planning with referrals to outside facilities
• Collaborate with medical staff and all care giving disciplines

Education:
Minimum - Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work or other specialty appropriate to the role.

Work Experience:
Minimum - One (1) year of relevant experience.
Preferred - Three (3) years of relevant experience

Licenses and Certifications:
Substance Abuse Counselor or Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing (or reciprocal credential recognized by the International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium), or the substance use disorder specialty granted with the LCSW, LPC, or LMFT, with the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS), or license eligible in the State of Wisconsin

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
• Excellent interpersonal communication, problem solving and conflict resolution skills; ability to work independently.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal community resources available to patients is strongly preferred.


Physical Requirements:
Sedentary: Ability to lift up to 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one, which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.

Work Schedule: 

This position is 100% FTE, 40 hours per week. Days, Monday - Sunday, 8:00am - 5:00pm with every one in three weekend (AB) rotation. This position will work holiday shifts, but no on call work. Hours may vary based on the needs of the department.
