Minimum - High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred - Recent graduate of a Cancer Information Management or related Health Information Management (HIM) program. Associates Degree in Business Administration or related field.

Work Experience:

Minimum - One (1) year of experience in an administrative support role.

Preferred - Related experience in a medical setting or HIM role with extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology (knowledge of cancer is preferred but not required). Three (3) years of experience in an administrative support function.  Previous experience in a health care setting.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  •  Ability to plan and organize the workflow in a busy office/unit environment and be self-directed and work with minimal supervision


  •  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, department administrative staff, interdepartmental contacts and the general public


  •  Ability to be flexible in response to changing demands 

Physical Requirements:

Sedentary: Ability to lift up to 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers and small tools.  Although a sedentary job is defined as one, which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.


Work Schedule:  

This is a .6 FTE position. Hours can be somewhat flexible around the core business hours of Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Hours may vary based on the needs of the department.
