Join the #1 Hospital in Wisconsin as a Health Unit Coordinator!

We are seeking a Health Unit Coordinator to: 

  • Admit, transfer, and discharge patients from inpatient units and Surgical Services
  • Maintain adequate office and paper supplies.
  • Answer incoming calls, determines appropriate triage of calls and relaying of messages
  • Initiate pages to physicians and other personnel.
  • Update unit white boards with appropriate information.
  • Use the Nurse Call system effectively to communicate the needs of patients.
  • Enter orders and charges for equipment needed.
  • Assemble admit and discharge packets as needed.
  • Collect and maintain data as directed by Nurse Manager.



Minimum – High School Diploma

Work Experience:

Preferred – One (1) to two (2) years of experience in a medical environment

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Possess a working knowledge of departmental and hospital policy and procedures, medical terminology, principles of effective communication, and knowledge of data entry systems.
  • Ability to maintain control and order under stressful conditions and periods of high unit activity.

Physical Requirements:

Light: Ability to lift up to 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one, which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.

Work Schedule:  90% FTE, 36 hours per week.  Monday - Friday. A combination of 8/12 hour shifts throughout the Day/Evening between the hours of 7:00 am - 11:30 pm with a 1 in 3 weekend rotation.  Hours may vary based on the needs of the department.
