We are seeking a Manager of Ambulatory Access to:

  • Evaluate, develop and implement best practices, operational processes, and system configuration within UW Health related to patient scheduling and access.
  • Organize and coordinate scheduling projects, workflow design and improvement to meet organizational and departmental goals.


Minimum - Bachelor’s degree in information systems, business management, healthcare administration or other related field.
Preferred - Master’s degree.

Work Experience:
Minimum - Five (5) years relevant experience in health care management, operations, or information technology.
Preferred - Two (2) years of experience in project management or process improvement. Prior access improvement work at an academic medical center. Prior experience with centralized scheduling and template management.

Licenses and Certifications:
Minimum - Epic Cadence Certification or the ability to achieve the certification within one (1) year of employment.
Preferred - Project Management, Agile/Scrum, or Lean Six Sigma certification. Epic Radiant, OpTime, EpicCare, and/or Prelude certification.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Exceptional oral/written communication, facilitation, presentation, leadership and consultative skills.
  • Skilled working in a matrixed reporting relationship where change and improvement is accomplished through positive influence versus direct authority.
  • Comfortable accepting responsibility for medium- to large-scale projects involving multiple resources and spanning many months from start to finish.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent activities.
  • Ability to react to frequent changes in duties and volume of work.
  • Ability to independently research issues and make effective recommendations using critical thinking skills.
  • Effective analytical ability to solve complex problems and issues.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work with a diverse group of people.
  • Track record demonstrating ability to function independently and as a team member, and consistently deliver quality outcomes.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to listen with empathy.
  • Ability to make sound judgments in demanding situations.
Physical Requirements:
Sedentary: Ability to lift up to 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one, which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Additional hours as needed to meet operational needs.
