As an Advanced Practice Provider, you'll play an integral role in our care teams by providing high-quality and cost-effective care to patients.


We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner to:

  • Practice alongside other Neonatal Nurse Practitioners and NICU Hospitalist to provide services at two locations: UnityPoint Health-Meriter, a 38-bed Level III NICU, and American Family Children’s Hospital, a 14-bed Level IV NICU.

  • Attend high risk deliveries and provide medical management as a member of our multi-disciplinary group.

  • Conduct comprehensive health history and physical assessment of patients with acute health problems.

  • Perform admission history and physical, develop, manage, and modify treatment plans.

  • Participate in daily rounding and collaborate with attending or consulting team in order to adjust plans of care

  • Perform routine clinical procedures independently including providing resuscitation and stabilization of newborn, endotracheal tube placement/intubation, PICC line insertion, umbilical catheter insertion (arterial/venous), peripheral arterial line insertion, chest tube insertion and removal, thoracentesis, lumber puncture, double or partial volume exchange transfusion and neonatal transport.




Master’s or Doctorate’s degree from accredited Nursing Program


Work Experience:

Preferred – Two (2) years of relevant NICU experience

Licenses and Certifications:

Active RN and APNP license in State of Wisconsin AND active board certification as an NP in Neonatal

NCC Certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire. CPR certification and advanced life support certifications if relevant to practice area (ACLS, PALS, NRP).


Physical Requirements:

Medium: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting/and or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.


Work Schedule:

The work schedule will be rotating shifts for days, nights, and weekends.  The day shift hours will be from 7:00 am - 5:30 pm or 7:00 am - 8:00 pm; night shift hours will be 7:30 pm - 8:30 am. Hours may vary based on operational needs of the department.
