NP/PA - Psychiatry Inpatient Consult
We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to:
- Conduct psychiatric assessments of patients with acute and chronic mental illness in an inpatient and Emergency Department setting. This includes the assessment of the patient’s psychosocial, cognitive, developmental, and medical status.
- Work collaboratively with the behavioral health consult service social worker and sub-specialties including health psychology, AODA, and geriatrics.
- Partner with the Psychiatric Social Worker to triage referrals, round on units to proactively identify patients in need of consults and participate in the pilot for proactive consultation model.
- See patients and family members as needed for follow-up psychiatric care including medications.
Education:
Minimum –
If Nurse Practitioner: Master’s or Doctorate’s degree from accredited Nursing Program.
If Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from accredited PA Program
Work Experience:
If Nurse Practitioner: Active RN and APNP license in State of Wisconsin AND active board certification as a NP in Psychiatric-Mental Health.
If Physician Assistant: Active PA license in State of Wisconsin AND active PA board certification.
All Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant applicants must have: Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire AND CPR certification and advanced life support certifications if relevant to practice area (ACLS, PALS, NRP).

Sedentary: Ability to lift up to 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one, which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.
100% FTE. Core hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
