Total Rewards

Salary is just one component of a broader compensation philosophy at UW Health. We call it “Total Rewards” because it showcases the many ways employees benefit — both personally and professionally — from joining the UW Health team.

Major components of Total Rewards

Pay and benefits

We offer competitive, market-based pay across the board, based on the employee’s experience and education.

Health and dental Insurance

Comprehensive health insurance is offered to all employees.

Dental insurance, at no extra charge, covers preventive and basic restorative services.

Prescription coverage

Included with health insurance, these plans significantly reduce employee out-of-pocket prescription costs.

Vision insurance

Optional vision plans are available to help defray the cost of eye exams, eyeglasses and contact lenses.

Disability and life insurance

Optional plans are available to financially protect employees and their families when catastrophic events occur.

Paid time off

We offer paid time off for vacation, holidays and two-week paid parental leave.

Adoption Assistance

Our new adoption assistance benefit reimburses employees for qualified expenses directly related to the adoption of a child.

Robust employer-sponsored, tax-advantaged retirement savings plans are available to all employees.

Pet Insurance

We offer our employees a discount on pet insurance plans, this includes:  accidents, illnesses, behavioral conditions and more.

Employees receive a variety of discounts to local restaurants, fitness clubs and other businesses.

Employees who park on or near the University Hospital campus in Madison, WI with an hourly wage of $30 or less are eligible for reduced-cost parking permits.

Employee Referral Bonus Program

We offer a bonus to employees who refer friends, former colleagues or others to apply for open, posted positions. The applicant must be hired for the bonus to be earned.

Workplace Well-being

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

We can help when personal stressors become overwhelming. Our EAP vendor, SupportLinc, offers 24/7 confidential support when employees have legal, financial, child care or other concerns.

Remote/flexible Work Options

Non-clinical positions traditionally performed in an office setting may have options for remote or hybrid working arrangements, depending on the job and location.

Well-being programs

We support healthy lifestyles through our four dimensions of well-being, Well-being in the Workday, Emotional Well-being, Financial Well-being and Physical Well-being.

Recognition programs

Many areas regularly recognize high-achieving employees through a variety of award programs.

Professional development

Advancing your career

We support professional growth through various programs designed to help qualify employees for positions with greater responsibility.

Tuition reimbursement

We help pay for employee coursework relating to career development.
