Nursing Assistant Apprenticeship Program

The Nursing Assistant (NA) Apprenticeship Program is a training program designed for current UW Health employees, as well as, external applicants. Current employees will receive training on paid work time. External applicants will receive training on paid time. Students will participate in direct patient care tasks, processes, and procedures to assist members of a patient care team in providing a broad range of healthcare services to our patients as Nursing Assistant in a hospital setting.


Applying to the Program

You can apply as either an internal or external applicant. There is no cost for the program. You are paid 40 hours a week while in the training program. There is a one-year work agreement. If you are applying for the accelerated program you must include your unofficial transcripts.

Future start dates:

  • November: applications will be accepted on the UW Health Careers website for the accelerated cohort from 9/24/25 – 10/6/25.
    • November cohort will run from 11/10/25 – 12/5/25.
  • December: applications will be accepted on the UW Health Careers website for the accelerated cohort from 10/27/25 – 11/11/25. 
    • December Cohort will run from 12/22/25 – 1/16/26 (there will not be class these days due to the holiday season: 12/24/25, 12/25/25, 12/26/25 and 1/1/26).
  • February: applications will be accepted on the UW Health Careers website for the 176-hour cohort from 11/10/25 – 11/24/25. 
    • February cohort will run from 2/9/26 – 3/27/26.
