• Madison has over 120 neighborhoods and several surrounding suburbs, along with many nearby cities and towns within an easy commute to UW Health locations. Each neighborhood has its own character and amenities, and the City of Madison offers resources for more information about specific neighborhoods.
• UW Health employees may be eligible for corporate discounts at select local housing communities and temporary housing options. Candidates can discuss these options and resources with their recruiter.

Schools and child care

• Madison and the surrounding area offer a variety of school districts to meet each family’s unique needs and preferences. The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) provides a comprehensive directory of districts and publicly available data to learn more about the specific communities where families choose to live.
• UW–Madison has a resource for finding child care options in the Madison area, with a focus on providers around campus.

Events, sports, restaurants and things to do

• Destination Madison offers current information on local events, restaurants, hotels, outdoor activities and attractions, including the Dane County Farmers’ Market, the largest producer-only farmers’ market in the United States.
• BeMadison.com, created by the Madison Chamber of Commerce, explores why many choose to live and work in Madison.
• The Madison area has a variety of shopping options, from malls to various neighborhood shopping districts. You will find everything from fine art and formal clothing to one-of-a-kind pieces.

Transportation

• Madison is widely recognized as a bike-friendly community. Identify bicycle routes using the Dane County Bike Map.
• Madison Metro bus service provides transportation throughout the city of Madison and some neighboring communities, with convenient stops near many UW Health facilities. Free bus passes are available to all UW Health employees.
