School of Radiography

Our mission 

Through excellence in education and a quality-focused environment, we provide our health care community with competent and compassionate radiographers.  

The School of Radiography is a hospital-based radiography program sponsored by UW Health SwedishAmerican Hospital in Rockford, Ill. This is a certificate program.

Articulation agreement

Our school holds a formal affiliation agreement with the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Ill. This curricular track is in a 2+2 format, meaning a student will take two years of prerequisites (USF and UW Health requirements) and then two years of radiography courses at UW Health SwedishAmerican Hospital. Upon completion of the two years at the School of Radiography, a student will be eligible for the ARRT certification in Radiography and also will earn a baccalaureate degree from the University of St. Francis. Apply

We will accept applications from June 1, 2024, to March 15, 2025, for the class that will begin in Fall 2025. This 21-month program seeks to prepare individuals to become competent, entry-level radiographers. From 2019–2023, our program had an average completion rate of 100%, a 100% job placement rate and 100% of graduates passed their registry exam on their first attempt.

Graduates of the program are eligible for certification in radiography through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
