Q: What is the benefit of doing an occupational therapy fellowship?

A: A fellowship provides post-professional training in a specialized area of practice. Participation in a fellowship offers specific experience which combines didactics, mentorship, and clinical practice in the fellowship area in order to progress the fellow towards becoming an advanced-level clinician. This can increase professional marketability in the future.

Q: What experience is needed to apply for a fellowship?

A: You must:

• Be a graduate of an AOCTE-accredited occupational therapy program
• Be a registered occupational therapist (OTR) and have six months’ experience, or more, in rehabilitation of upper extremity from any setting: Acute, chronic or lymphedema.
• Be eligible for licensure as an occupational therapist in Wisconsin
• Obtain NPI number prior to start of fellowship program

Q: Can I apply if I am not yet licensed or have not graduated OT school?

A: You must be a graduate of a AOCTE-accredited occupational therapy program and have a valid Wisconsin license and a NPI number.

Q: Can I apply if my license is in another state?

A: We can only accept candidates who are licensed in Wisconsin.

Q: What diagnoses will I see?

A: You will see clients with a variety of upper-limb conditions, which could include orthopedic, post-surgical, nerve injuries, cumulative-trauma injuries, amputations, lymphedema and oncology.

Q: What does it cost to apply to the fellowship program?

A: There is no cost to apply.
