Projects

  • Major research project suitable for publication
    • Major project will be presented at the Great Lakes Pharmacy Resident Conference. Residents may also present at the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin Educational Conference.
    • It may also be presented at the Infectious Diseases Society of America Annual Meeting or the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists or other clinical meeting
  • Past resident projects include:
    • National, multicenter study on the effectiveness of the antibiotic timeout
    • Development of pediatric stewardship program
    • Development of antimicrobial stewardship outreach program
    • Evaluation of PK/PD dosing
    • Rotation-related projects as assigned by rotation preceptors

  • ID fellows conference
  • Trauma conference (trauma surgeons and residents)
  • Leadership of journal club discussions
  • Grand Rounds Interactive Lunch and Learn (GRILL) for co-residents (all residents meet once weekly, PGY2 will present one time per year)

Teaching Opportunities

  • Clinical instructor status at the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy
  • Teaching assistant for third-year Infectious Diseases Pharmacotherapy at School of Pharmacy
  • Co-Preceptorship of fourth-year students and first-year pharmacy practice residents on elective clinical rotation at the hospital
  • Teaching certificate program for residents through the School of Pharmacy

Other Activities

  • Assist in the development of institutional guidelines and protocols
  • Serve as a member of institution committees related to infectious diseases
  • Attend Infectious Disease grand rounds, fellows conference and journal clubs
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support training and institutional Code Blue training
  • Infectious diseases bootcamp
  • Opportunity to interact with 25 or more co-residents daily

Travel

  • Support to attend the either the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists or the ID meeting of the resident’s choosing
  • Great Lakes Pharmacy Resident Conference or the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin Educational Conference
  • Spring visit to other health systems and residency programs
