Projects

  • Major research project suitable for publication
    • Major project will be presented at a national conference of the resident’s choosing
  • Past resident projects include:
    • National, multicenter study on the effectiveness of the antibiotic timeout
    • Development of Pediatric Stewardship Program
    • Development of Antimicrobial Stewardship Outreach Program
    • Evaluation of PK/PD dosing
    • Rotation-related projects as assigned by rotation preceptors

Presentation opportunities

  • Grand Rounds Interactive Lunch and Learn (GRILL) for residents (all residents meet once weekly, PGY2 will present one time per year)
  • Pharmacy and nursing in-services
  • Leadership of journal club discussions

Teaching opportunities

  • Clinical instructor status at the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy
  • Teaching assistant for Infectious Diseases Pharmacotherapy course at School of Pharmacy
  • Co-preceptorship of fourth-year pharmacy students (APPE) and PGY1 pharmacist residents on elective clinical rotation
  • Teaching certificate program for residents through the School of Pharmacy

Other activities

  • Assist in the development of institutional guidelines and protocols
  • Serve as a member of institution committees related to infectious diseases
  • Attend infectious disease grand rounds, fellows conference and journal clubs
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support training and institutional Code Blue training
  • Infectious diseases bootcamp
  • Opportunity to interact with 25 or more co-residents daily

Travel

  • Support to attend either the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Midyear conference or an ID meeting of the resident’s choosing
