The Sports Physical Therapy Residency at University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics consistently produces practitioners of sports rehabilitation that graduate to become leaders, clinicians, and educators in a variety of sports settings across the country.

Overall, our program has a 100% graduation rate and 100% of our residents pass the SCS on their first attempt.

Currently, we have three graduates who completed PhD programs continuing with research they started as residents. One is working in Badger Athletics and interacts with current residents with their research, and one completed her PhD and whose position teaches in a PT program, continues her research, and allows her to manage a runners’ clinic in Kentucky.

One of our graduates proceeded to an Upper Extremity Fellowship and now is the medical director for the Toronto Blue Jays. One is working at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., and was heavily involved in developing their Olympic and Paralympic Fellowship (in which another of our graduates was the inaugural Fellow). She then went on to work with the Women’s Tennis Association Tour.

One recent grad completed Duke’s Division I Athlete Fellowship and was subsequently hired to continue working with Duke Sports Medicine. One is with the U.S. Ski and Snowboard team in Colorado. One completed a Division I Athlete Fellowship at Memorial-Hermann / University of Houston, worked as a female PT in the NFL and now is at Mississippi State working with football and Olympic sports teams.

Four are currently employed with us at UW Health Sports Rehabilitation and are increasing their involvement with the residency as mentors and faculty, teaching various units and aspects of the curriculum. Eight others work at sports medicine clinics in Wisconsin, Michigan, Utah, Colorado, Indiana, Florida, Iowa and Washington and either have started or added specialty services at their clinic or are doing some specialty work as fee-for-service.
