PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency Northern Illinois

Program summary

The PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy residency program at UW Health SwedishAmerican allows the resident to gain clinical skills and hands on experience by being part of a multidisciplinary team in a wide range of clinical areas tailored to the resident’s interests in critical care.

The critical care unit (CCU) is a 30-bed mixed medical, surgical and neuro intensive care unit in the Heart Hospital. The critical care pharmacists at UW Health SwedishAmerican provide prospective medication order review and active participation in multidisciplinary rounds. Pharmacists also provide recommendations and prepare medications during cardiac resuscitations, intubations and other medical emergencies in the critical care unit and hospital.
